Hello and welcome this month to a rather different DVD and Blu-Ray World. As you flick through you will notice we have doubled the amount of Blu-ray reviews and added sections on gadgets and hardware.
We’ve also included more features than ever before, but in the process have taken out all of the ‘back of the book’ adult content. Why so? Well, we’re out to give the magazine a more elevated profile in today’s marketplace and taking out the adult gives us unrestricted access to certain shops and export venues that, shall we say, were proving a little difficult to crack with all the porny stuff we used to include.
This doesn’t mean we won’t be giving you any more glam shots of your favourite in-up girls… in this very issue we have a sensational spread on gorgeous actress and TV presenter Emily Booth, star of Doghouse and Pervirella. But we won’t be rubbing your face in the smut, sorry. Expect the cult horror content to thrive, though, and this time round you’ll notice a great interview with John Russo, writer of Night of the Living Dead, plus a feature on the grisly death of B-movie entrepreneur, Al Adamson.
For the current issue we’ve gone back to the single disc cover mounts with a Jean Rollin cult hit from the Redemption library, but we’re mulling over doing more double movie ‘unlock’ discs because sales on these issues have been very favourable, what do you reckon we should do? Finally, just a little rant about the way the Americans are taking over our spelling. I went to a preview of a decent little thriller recently about a bunch of security guards planning to rob their own van of gold bullion. The film was okay, but more of a ‘watch on DVD’ thing. Its title was Armored.
Now once upon a time it would have had the new title of Armoured in the UK, but not any more. Lazy, I call it. And don’t get me started on The Color Purple.
